Introduction to toxicology, focusing on the fate and transport, biotransformation, and biochemical and physiological impacts of pollutants on humans and wildlife. Toxicology is a multidisciplinary experimental science that combines chemistry, biology, and physiology to determine whether substances we are exposed to in the environment are likely to harm to human and wildlife health. Students will learn how toxicology is used to understand how the body responds to chemicals in the environment, and how toxicology is applied to protect human and wildlife health through safety evaluation using a case-study approach. Prerequisites: Successful completion (C- or better) of BIOL 111 and 112 with labs and CHEM 111 with lab. Completion of BIOL315 and lab is highly recommended. As Needed.
