The Office of Accessible Education Services (AES) coordinates reasonable accommodations for students with documented disabilities in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. AES works with students through an interactive process to determine accommodations that provide equal access to academic courses, programs, housing, and campus activities. Accommodations are individualized and may include modifications related to exams (e.g., extended time, reduced distraction testing environment), within the classroom, housing, or dining. All accommodations require appropriate medical documentation and are determined on a case-by-case basis. Students are encouraged to submit accommodation requests and documentation by established deadlines each semester to allow for timely review and implementation (Fall: September 1, Spring: February 1, Summer: June 1). Requests submitted after these deadlines may be reviewed at the discretion of AES. Temporary accommodations may be approved for short-term medical conditions and are typically granted for a limited duration based on documentation. Accommodations are not retroactive and do not alter essential course requirements or academic standards. Students are responsible for submitting requests, providing documentation, and maintaining communication with AES and their instructors each semester.
