The Healthcare Administration concentration provides students with a comprehensive understanding of business operations within the healthcare industry, preparing them to manage and improve healthcare organizations. Students will explore key aspects of healthcare administration, including the role of research and informatics in decision-making, strategies for enhancing patient care and quality of life, and best practices for creating and maintaining safe and efficient healthcare environments. A hands-on internship experience allows students to apply their knowledge in real-world settings, gaining valuable industry experience.
Graduates of this concentration will be prepared for administrative and management roles in hospitals, physician practices, nursing homes, long-term care facilities, healthcare consulting firms, and other healthcare organizations. With a strong foundation in both business and healthcare operations, students will be equipped to contribute to the effective and ethical management of healthcare systems.
Expected outcomes of the BBA - Healthcare Administration concentration include:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the practices for long-term health care facility management.
- Employ practices for recruiting, selecting, and maintaining qualified health care employees.
- Demonstrate an understanding of healthcare organizational models, apply theories of quality improvement, and analyze current issues and topics affecting the U.S. healthcare system.
