LMU's BS in Education Program for K-5 licensure offers courses leading to the Bachelor of Science degree with initial teacher licensure in K-5, Special Education, and ELL concentrations in compliance with Tennessee Department of Education licensure standards.
Elementary K-5 majors have the option of choosing from two different pathways.
1. The traditional pathway to a bachelor’s degree typically involves enrolling full-time at LMU. Students attend in-person classes on a campus and follow a structured academic schedule over four years. This route emphasizes a well-rounded college experience, including dorm life, extracurricular activities, and direct access to professors and career services.
2. The 2+2 non-traditional pathway is designed with working individuals who have an associate’s degree and want to earn a bachelor’s degree in education. This pathway offers a convenient class schedule and a hybrid/hyflex format, with courses available on evenings and Saturdays. This format allows students to attend class face-to-face or participate synchronously via Zoom when in-person attendance isn't possible.
