Foreign Language Requirement for BA Degrees
I. English Major Program Core: 300-level Classes
Take all of the following for 300-level credit.
II. English Major Program Core: 400-level Classes
Take any two of the following for 400-level core credit (repeatable with different subtitles):
III. English Major Program Electives (12 Credit Hours)
For this category, students will take 12 (twelve) credit hours:
- ENGL 360 The English Language
- ENGL 410 Shakespeare
- Choose two of the following classes:
ENGL 333, 363, 373, 383, 384, 453: A maximum of six credit hours of writing courses may be counted toward the B.A. in English.
Up to six credit hours at the 200 level from another institution may count toward the B. A. Major Program in English. Up to six credit hours of writing courses may count concurrently toward the B.A. in English and the Writing Minor.
Note: Students are required to earn a “C-” or better in all courses applied to the major or minor field of study in English.
Secondary Education Certification
Please note: All Students in teacher licensure programs are required to apply for admission to the teacher licensure program while enrolled in EDUC 290, The Teaching Profession.
Formal Admission is required prior to enrolling in EDUC 480, Pre-Clinical Experience.
Candidates who do not add a licensure in English will be required to take 6 more hours of 300/400-level English Electives. Revised 5/2026
